Statement
The "flash for empathy" is a series of large-format works. Each work suggests a portrait but with three bars blocking a view like a blindfold. The series provides a wide margin of interpretation in terms of one's media use and position in society. It raises questions and invites reflection. The artist brings to canvas her subjective impressions of our rapidly changing coexistence. She explores the characteristics that determine our personal and social identity such as sustainability, joy, empathy, reflection, enthusiasm, inner peace and happiness. The intense and radiant colour combinations speak of the artist's heart-warming faith that every individual is different and perfect in their special way. Every work in the series is unique like a person. Her intention is to inspire the viewers to reflect upon themselves, to rediscover their true purpose and trust themselves more. Her work is also a call to take another look, to raise the gaze, tune in to a person in front of you and establish a meaningful dialogue. To extend this positive message of confidence and sustainability, each work is encased in a sturdy shadow gap steel frame. It's complete.

Andrea M. Weiss is an abstract painter. Her focus is large-format, colorful, expressive paintings. Her favorite medium is acryl on canvas; for applying paint, she uses a wire brush, trowel, foil, brushes, rollers, and much more. Paint on canvas is applied in several layers; sometimes, some layers are removed or repainted. Painting and putting colors together for her is very intuitive and creative - the artworks are made almost unconsciously. This dynamic process reflects the artist's current emotional world - her paintings are created with emotions to convey and bring out emotions in viewers. Finally, each work is encased in a shadow gap frame made of steel.
From 2018 to 2022, Andrea M. Weiss organized 11 solo exhibitions in Germany and participated in more than 15 group exhibitions on-site and online in Germany, Spain and Switzerland. In 2020 and 2021, she exhibited her artworks at NordArt – one of Europe's largest exhibitions and the most important contemporary art event in North Germany - Kunstwerk Carlshütte. Furthermore, for the last five years, she has worked on her meaningful art project Flash for empathy – a series of large-format abstract paintings with the main concept focusing on the artist's creative work. At her solo exhibition at the Art Platz Gallery in Riga, nine paintings from this series are displayed until the 15th February 2023.
